weekend + commandment #9

weekend + commandment #9 – listen to every word said

i feel like it’s been a while since i last wrote about one of my commandments! i guess you can say i’ve been busy (but not really.) what have i been up to?! here’s a recap! —

thursday night i went out with alejandro. okay, that’s not really his name. but i’d like to pretend that it is. we went out for thai food and saw “water for elephants” — SUCH AN AMAZING MOVIE!! brittany kept telling me to read the book because she said it was unbelievable… but i never did.

i’ll be honest, i didn’t read the book because the cover didn’t interest me. am i an awful person for this?! maybe, but who knows. but the movie was one of the greatest i’ve seen! trust me on this… just go see it! let me know what you think πŸ˜‰

friday night i went out with alex again. we went to the old port and had some fun adventures. we ended up at one of our fave restaurants, margaritas. delish!

i worked on saturday. WORK?! i know. weird, right?! my parent’s own a bagel shop and i work there whenever they need help… i hadn’t worked there in over a year so i was kind of lost. but i loved every minute of it! it was nice to see some of my fave customers!

sunday. hmm… what did i do sunday? absolutely nothing.

okay that’s a lie. i watched 2 lifetime movies and 2 episodes of 48 hours: hard evidence. the best part of the day was when i went down to the beach and got bill’s pizza & pier fries! those of you who aren’t from maine have no idea what i’m talking about… come visit and i’ll introduce you to some of the best food ever!!

i just got so off topic here! now onto commandment #9!!!

listen to every word said. this could be taken to so many different aspects of my life.Β  it’s something i need to work on.

friends, when i say that i’m a loud person, i truly mean it. (i don’t know how brittany and alyssa put up with me)… we’ll be in a room watching tv and hanging out, and i will SHOUT at the top of my lungs. for absolutely no reason. i make weird noises and i just can’t help it.

i’m also known to belt out in song every so often. (i kind of hate silence)

because of this, i find it hard to focus on what other people may be saying.

my friends often have to repeat themselves. it’s not fair to them! which is why i made this into a commandment!

listening to other people is so important. sometimes a friend might be TRYING to tell you something, but they can’t get the words out… so you have to look for the clues. LISTEN for the clues. because it’s hard for some people. yes, me. especially me.

when i think of the words “listen to every word said” it kind of brings me back to my commandment of “taking time for the little things” — one of my little things was to make sure i text my friends back. i think there’s a connection between that and listening to every word.

on a slightly different note, my life is about to get a little bit crazy. here’s what the next two weeks looks like for me:

I agree, sometimes I get loud and it’s hard to listen – really listen – to people.

Sometimes they have pretty cool things to say. πŸ™‚
